Good morning. Today is the 362nd day of the year. People stealing from churches isn’t a new phenomenon – the Brooklyn Daily Eagle of Dec. 27, 1902, carried the headline, “Burglars Visit to Nuns in Search of Xmas Money.” As eight nuns slept on the top floor of the Order of the Holy Family of Nazareth on Driggs Avenue in Williamsburg, burglars ransacked the first floor. But the proceeds of the Christmas collection, $900, were upstairs with the nuns, so the thieves had to be content with about $20. The convent is no longer at its original location, but the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth are now at 10 Newell St., also in Williamsburg.

Well-known people who were born today include actress Tovah Feldshuh (“Holocaust”), football player Carson Palmer, news correspondent Cokie Roberts and actor Gerard Depardieu (“The Return of Martin Guerre,” “Cyrano de Bergerac”).
