Good morning. Today is the 345th day of the year. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle of Dec. 10, 1901, featured an article about police inspectors finding $2,208 worth of postage stamps in a brownstone on Monroe Street in Bedford, Brooklyn (the term “Bedford-Stuyvesant” had not been invented yet). The stamps were linked to a Post Office robbery in Chicago. Louis Stokes, who lived in the building, had apparently been selling the stamps at a discount and was doing a “land-office business.”

Well-known people who were born today include Rod Blagojevich, former governor of Illinois; U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-Arkansas), actress Susan Dey (“The Partridge Family”) and actor Kenneth Branagh (“Wallander”).
