Good morning. Today is the 33rd day of the year. On this day in 1936, the first five members of the new Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y., were announced. They were Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner, Christy Mathewson and Walter Johnson. 
 

Well-known people who were born today include model Christie Brinkley; musician-singer Graham Nash of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young; columnist Liz Smith; and comedian and folksinger Tom Smothers, who was born on Governors Island.

The Visiting Nurse Service of New York is partnering with Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries (D-Fort Greene) to host a free, hour-long “Preventing Caregiver Burnout” seminar today at 1 p.m. at the Grace Agard Harewood Center, 966 Fulton St. The seminar is designed for those who are caregivers and might feel the stresses of caring for loved ones.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Triangle Sports, the 96-year-old retailer at the intersection of Flatbush and Fifth avenues, may soon go out of business. The store’s owners, who also own the building, are putting it on the market. Because of the arrival of Barclays Arena, many building owners are renting storefronts to national retailers and trendy boutiques.

 

The Trenton City Museum has returned a rare vase it had borrowed from the Brooklyn Museum after the New York institution said Trenton wasn’t a safe place for it. The director of the Trenton museum was laid off in September as the city cut costs amid a financial crunch. Trenton officials put an intern in charge of the little-known museum.

 

A man WHO WAS working in a Brooklyn subway station is in critical condition after a concrete slab fell on his head. According to the Daily News, the 26-year-old man was clearing concrete from the Smith-9th Street Station in Carroll Gardens around 11:30 a.m. yesterday. Another worker was hit in the arm. Both men were taken to Lutheran Medical Center.

 

The Brooklyn Historical Society (BHS) and the Bronx Museum of the Arts are together presenting a Valentine’s party at BHS, 128 Pierrepont St., from 7 to 10 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14.  This Valentine’s Day, enjoy Tumbador chocolates and Brooklyn Brewery and Bronx Brewery beer in BHS’s stunning Othmer Library while storytellers, poets and baseball historians from Brooklyn and the Bronx explore the legendary rivalry and share their borough love stories.
