Good morning. Today is the 35th day of the year. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle for Feb. 4, 1902, reported that “there should be good skating on the lake in Prospect Park this afternoon and evening. There were plenty of skaters on the lake this morning, and the number grew larger every minute. There were all sorts of skaters—good, bad and worse.” Nowadays, skating on the lake is discouraged, and skaters head to the ice skating rink at the Lakeside Center instead.

Well-known people who were born today include comedian David Brenner (who used to appear often at Pips in Sheepshead Bay), former Vice President Dan Quayle, Hall of Fame football player Lawrence Taylor, singer-songwriter Alice Cooper (Vincent Damon Furnier) and country singer Clint Black.
