Brooklyn Today: June 18, 2012
Good morning. Today is the 170th day of the year. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle of June 18, 1902, reported on a “row among Italians about the ownership of real estate” on President Street in Carroll Gardens. It seems that at a house-warming party, Joseph Imperiale, 21, chased his father around with a gun. His father, Antone Imperiale, reported his son to the police and had him arrested.
Well-known people who were born today include Hall of Fame baseball player Lou Brock, Pulitzer Prize-winning film critic Roger Ebert, actress Carol Kane (“Hester Street,” “Taxi”), U.S. Senator John D. Rockefeller IV, actress Isabella Rosselini (“Blue Velvet,” “Cousins”) and journalist Tom Wicker.
