Good morning. Today is the 123rd day of the year. On this day in 2011, Osama Bin Laden, Al-Qaeda terrorist leader, was killed by a U.S. Navy SEAL team that raided his compound in Abbotabad, Pakistan. Bin Laden’s body was buried at sea in accordance with Islamic rites later that day. Since 9/11, Bin Laden had been the world’s most wanted terrorist.

Well-known people who were born today include singer Lesley Gore (“She’s a Fool,” “You Don’t Own Me”), actress-political activist Bianca Jagger, soccer player David Beckham and country singer Larry Gatlin.

This morning at 9 a.m., Borough President Marty Markowitz will cut the ribbon for the newly renovated auditorium at Brooklyn Theatre Arts High School, 6565 Flatlands Ave., and present a proclamation in honor of the students’ performance of the musical Footloose. The performance will take place at 10 a.m. … This evening at 6:30 p.m., author and commentator TourĂ© and acclaimed writer and filmmaker Nelson George will speak at the spring installation of St. Joseph College’s Brooklyn Voices literary series. The event will take place at the college’s O’Connor Mall, 239 Vanderbilt Ave.
