Good morning. Today is the 300th day of the year. On this day in 1841, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle was founded by Poughkeepsie-born printer Isaac Van Anden, who sold it to a group of investors in 1870. For many years, its officers were at 28 Old Fulton St., now the site of the Eagle Warehouse. It later moved to Washington Street.

Well-known people who were born today include actor James Pickens, game show host Pat Sajak (“Wheel of Fortune”), Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and Olympic figure skater Sasha Cohen.

Today, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., LIU Brooklyn and the Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services will host a forum on “Successful Strategies for Raising Your Difficult Child/Teen.” The forum is specially designed for grandparents raising their grandchildren. It will take place at the Arnold and Marie Schwartz Gymnasium at the LIU Brooklyn campus at DeKalb and Flatbush avenues. … On Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., New York City College of Technology (City Tech) will hold its Fall Open House for prospective students and their families. It will take place at the Klitgord Auditorium, 285 Jay St., and will feature campus tours and a chance to meet faculty, current students and staff.
