Good morning. Today is the 302nd day of the year. On this day in 1901, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle reported that Leon Clogosz, the assassin of President McKinley, went to the electric chair unrepentant. “I killed the president because he was an enemy of the good people, the good working people. I am not sorry for my crime,” he said.

Today is also the first anniversary of superstorm Sandy, which devastated the region. Brooklyn was especially hard hit by the storm.

Well-known people who were born today include Brooklyn-born actor Richard Dreyfuss (“Jaws,” “Mr. Holland’s Opus,” “The Goodbye Girl”), singer Randy Jackson of the Jackson 5, singer-actress Melba Moore, actress Wynona Ryder (“Little Women,” “Girl, Interrupted”) and actor Rufus Sewell (“Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”).
