This evening at 7 p.m., the 84th Precinct Community Council will meet at Borough Hall. There will be an award presented to the New York Peace Institute. In addition, the Cop of the Year award will be given. … This evening at 6 p.m., the Flatbush Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library, 22 Linden Blvd., will hold an opening-night ceremony for its new Uncover Church Avenue exhibition. The exhibit will feature designs proposed by artists for commercial gates along Church Avenue.

Colin Hagendorf, the Brooklyn resident who recently finished his tour of all 370-plus pizza parlors in Manhattan, gives some tips for finding good pizza. He says the smell of the pizza should pull you in from the street and into the door. He also says there should be a good balance between cheese, sauce and crust; and that the pizza shouldn’t be too oily. He doesn’t trust a place that looks too clean — if it doesn’t have graffiti on the bathroom wall, he says, it won’t have good pizza.
 
As of press time, according to NY1, police were still looking for a pair of burglars who posed as utility workers to gain entrance to two homes in Mapleton. As one suspect, a female, pretended to inspect the home, the other, a male, went through the place, taking money and jewelry. Victims in both homes were elderly women.
 
The Q train is not running in either direction between Prospect Park and 57th Street in Manhattan on weekends starting last week and lasting through the end of February, so the MTA can replace tracks at Atlantic Avenue, according to the Daily News. Part of the route, however, is shared by the B train.
 
Jessica Stockton Bagnulo, co-owner of Greenlight Bookstore in Fort Greene, and her husband Michael have a new baby, Marian Hanna, who was born on Jan. 10.
