COVINGTON, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say four Brooklynites — a man and three women in their 20s — have been charged in western New York with using stolen credit cards to purchase merchandise.

State police say troopers pulled over a car for speeding last weekend in the rural town of Covington in Wyoming County, 40 miles east of Buffalo.

Police say the driver didn't have a license and the three passengers had several identifications with other people's names on them. Troopers say they found several bags of new jewelry, electronics and clothes in the car, but no receipts for the items.

Investigators say the four had gone to several stores in the Buffalo area and bought the items with other people's credit card information.

The four have been charged with criminal possession of stolen property.
