The Brooklyn Youth Chorus’s 20th Anniversary Gala was held on Wednesday evening, May 9, at Liberty Warehouse in Red Hook to a packed audience that enjoyed scenic views of New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty, and music by the chorus and several guest artists. The gala once again broke records of previous years, thanks to donations, ticket and table purchases.Mayor Bloomberg is seen with Dianne Berkun, founder and artistic director of the Brooklyn Youth Chorus.

The crowd of more than 325 guests included Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and many luminaries in the art and cultural world. The gala honored J. Barclay Collins II, Emily H. Fisher, Charles J. Hamm, John and Narcissa Titman and Mary Anne Yancey.

In an onstage cameo, Brooklyn Youth Chorus founder and artistic director Dianne Berkun played Maria with the younger kids from the chorus in a medley of songs from “The Sound of Music.”
