Brooklyn’s first dinner boat preparing to launch
Brooklyn’s “very first dinner boat,” to be called The Water Table, has plans to serve seasonal New England food on a tug boat cruise around New York Harbor.
Founded by Captain Kelli Farwell, formally of Rye, Dumont, Craft and Gramercy Tavern, the venture is raising funds at Indiegogo. By Thursday afternoon (with 22 days left in the fundraising window), Captain Farwell had raised $14,200 out of a goal of $60,000.
Acording to Farwell, guests of The Water Table will enjoy a fixed-price, three-hour cruise originating at one of the many new piers opening in Greenpoint, and a selection of two “classic dishes,” such as lobster rolls, oysters on the half shell, clam chowder and veggies. The meals will include classic cocktails, New England craft beers or seasonal wine selections.
Those kicking in to the campaign will receive perks, such as free drinks, postcards, or even free cruises, depending on the amount donated.
