Burnt body found on Gerritsen Beach ID’d as 14-year-old girl

The burnt, naked body of a girl found in a weedy patch on Gerritsen Beach this past Sunday has been identified as that of a missing 14-year-old girl, NBC reports.

Law enforcement sources told NBC on Tuesday that the victim was Shaniesha Forbes, who had been missing since Friday. Investigators also located a kerosene can and signs of a bonfire nearby.

The girl’s body was found along the shoreline near the border of Marine Park, near Gerritsen and Lois Avenues.

On a social website, Forbes listed her interests as the music of Eminem and Justine Bieber, and Ouija boards.

In an unconfirmed report, GerritsenBeach.net writes that a second body was found in the same area on Tuesday.

Update: The New York Times reports that Shaniesha lived ived with her mother and three siblings in East Flatbush and was a freshman at the Academy for Young Writers in Williamsburg.
