The Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) paid tribute recently to Brooklyn’s African American elected officials, noting that “they are making a difference and supporting small businesses.”

In this year’s special “Black History Month Tribute in February,” CACCI honored U.S. Congresspersons Edolphus Towns and Yvette Clarke; state Senators John Sampson, Kevin Parker, Eric Adams and Velmanette Montgomery; state Assemblymembers Nick Perry, Karim Camara, Hakeem Jeffries, Annette Robinson and Inez Barron; and City Councilmembers Albert Vann, Mathieu Eugene, Jumaane Williams, Darlene Mealy, Letitia James and Charles Barron.

Celebrating 27 years of service this year to the small business community in Brooklyn, CACCI also announced recently it is establishing the first-ever Caribbean Trade Center to encourage doing business with businesses in the Caribbean.

The new center will be housed on the Erasmus Hall High School campus in Flatbush in the school’s original academy building — along with CACCI’s new headquarters.

The organization is known locally as a provider of business assistance programming offering workshops in planning, financing, certification preparedness, expansion and on doing business with city, state and federal agencies.
