Proposals to close eight schools — two in Brooklyn — will be considered at the April 26 Panel for Educational Policy meeting, which will take place at Prospect Heights Campus, located at 883 Classon Ave.

Brooklyn schools being considered for closure include Automotive High School and Sheepshead Bay High School. The city wants to replace these schools with new schools to be co-located on their campuses.

According to the Department of Education, replacing these schools with similar but better schools will increase the new schools’ chance of receiving millions of dollars in supplemental federal funding under the federal School Improvement Grant (SIG) program.
