Cops ID suspect In Williamsburg hate crimes

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted for questioning in regard to 12 incidents of arson against religious Jews in Williamsburg.

As the Eagle has reported on April 9, 11 mezuzot, or Jewish religious symbols posted on doorposts, were set on fire at 85 Taylor St. The following day, one fire-damaged mezuzah was discovered at 130 Clymer St.

The suspect is Rubin Ublies, 35. He is 5-foot-9, Hispanic, weighs between 130 to 160 pounds, and was last seen wearing a gray shirt with white stripes, dark pants and black jacket with the New York Yankees emblem on the back.
