Marvin Kaplan, born on Jan. 24, 1927, attended Brooklyn College before he moved on to Hollywood in 1949 to appear with Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn in the classic film Adam’s Rib (’49).

Marvin became a very popular comic actor, appearing in both film and TV roles. His voice, along with fellow Brooklynite Arnold Stang, was heard on the popular “Top Cat” cartoon show. Marvin is well remembered for his role in the popular TV sitcom “Alice,” in which he appeared with another Brooklynite, Vic Tayback.
