According to advertisements in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle of Jan. 27, 1924, real estate business was booming. One ad states: “A new city has arisen on the old Sheepshead Bay tract in an incredibly short space of time! …  Today $3,000,000 worth of new homes and stores are under construction on the Sheepshead Bay tract.”

Another ad offered 350 lots in Flatbush near Kings Highway. A Long Island real estate firm gave some advice to the wise investor: “Invest your money in God’s soil with a little home thereon. This gives you an asset whether times are good or bad.” The ad also warned, “Beware of stock speculations unless they are standard.” One of their typical little Long Island homes: “At Freeport — Splendid 7-room cottage, large grounds, all modern improvements, situated on a corner, reasonable, cash $7,000.”
