JV Division
Stingrays 6 Hornets 6

The Hornets scored first in this JV Division matchup on a blast from in front of the goal by Thomas Palazzotto. Anthony Calabrese made the score 2-0 for the Hornets with his first goal of the game, but then Jake Mangano got the Stingrays on the board with a blast from the upper corner. Angel Velez tied the game with a great shot from in front of the net.

The Stingrays made it 3-2 on a goal from Nicholas Cona, but the Hornets kept playing hard and got right back into the game. Gabriella Luna rifled a shot past the Stingrays’ goaltender to make the score 3-3. Then Joseph Pagano gave the Hornets the lead on a great shot from right in front of the net. That made it 4-3 at the half.

At the start of the second half, Palazzotto increased the Hornets’ lead to 5-3 with his second goal of the game. Joseph Baglivo was spectacular in goal for the Hornets, as was Anthony Scarpaci for the Stingrays. Matthew McCarthy made the score 5-4 and Cona  tied it up with his second goal of the game on an assist from Mangano.Joseph Baglivo was spectacular in net for the JV Division Hornets, making more than 20 saves.

Mangano then scored the go-ahead goal for the Stingrays with very little time on the clock, but Gabriel Caso ran down the court and faked out the Stingrays’ defense to tie the game once again at 6-6. Marisa Sparacio and Julia Maxwell played another superb game on defense for the Stingrays. Meanwhile, Johnny Parker, Nicholas Miller and Angelo Rodriguez set up many plays on offense and kept the Hornets constantly attacking in the Stingrays’ zone.      

Rookie Division

Stars 4 Stingrays 2

Gianfranco Iacobucci scored the first goal of the game for the Stingrays and Paul Fasciano scored a goal for the Stars right before the first quarter ended. In the second quarter, George Boutsikakis scored the go-ahead goal for the Stars, then Sal Sparacio scored another goal to make the score 3-1. Joe Rowdis scored the fourth and final goal for the Stars.  

The Stingrays continued to play very hard with great defense by Anthony Tarallo and Valentina Campanella. Matthew Beard made a nice pass to set up Iacobucci right in front of the net to score the second goal for the Stingrays. Christian Lopez had five shots on goal for the Stingrays. Francesca Scarpaci had a superb game on defense for the Hornets.
