JAGUARS 5 HORNETS 4

The Rookie Division Jaguars squared off against the Hornets this weekend and opened up the scoring when Joseph Rowdis fired a blast from right in front of the goal. Antonio Gentile made it 2-0 when he scored a goal a few minutes later.

The Hornets came right back with a goal by Frank Catalano, but Rowdis put the Jags up by a margin of 3-1 shortly thereafter. Matthew Hazar blasted the second goal in for the Hornets, but Gabriella Peralta added another goal for the Jaguars from right in front of the net.

James Cona and Chiraq Chadha each scored for the Hornets to tie the game at 4-4. Then Gentile scored the fifth and winning goal for the Jaguars.

Chris Carbone had another fantastic game in goal for the Jaguars, and Joseph Fanelli, Anthony D’Urso and Sal Sorrentino played great defense.  Gianna Degregorio, Dom Speranza and Julia Bruzzese played very well on defense for the Hornets, while teammates Lorenzo Degregorio and Anthony Bonner helped out on offense.

RANGERS 5 STINGRAYS 2

The Rangers opened up a commanding lead with three goals by Matthew DeGrezia and two goals by Gabriel Caso. The Stingrays’ goals were scored by Gianfranco Iacobucci and Anthony Tarallo.

The Stingrays were down two players for most of the game, but Alexandra Berardelli helped tremendously on defense and Giacomo Pollina made more than 20 saves in goal. Eric King played extremely well at center, setting up the goals for Tarallo and Iacobucci. Christian Lopez had about five solid shots on goal and almost scored.

The Rangers were helped out by the solid play on defense by Marc Benvenuto, Brooke Rizzi and Vito Demonte. Anthony Parker had three solid shots on goal as well.

The Jaguars struck first in this high-scoring game with an early goal by Joe Rowdis, but the Stars responded with a pair of goals by Paul Fasciano and Sal Sparacio. Rowdis scored two more goals for the Jaguars and Fasciano added one more for the Jaguars to tie the game at 3-3. With time running out in the first half, Rowdis scored his fourth goal to regain the lead.

The Jaguars extended their lead early on in the second half with a pair of goals from Christopher Carbone and Rowdis, making the score 6-3. Then George Boutsikakis of the Stars scored a goal, narrowing the lead to 6-4.

Rowdis finished the scoring for the Stars with two more goals, giving the Stars an 8-4 lead and earning a total of seven goals in the game. With less than five minutes left in the game and the Stars trailing by four, Boutsikakis was spectacular, scoring four straight consecutive goals. The final goal was scored within the final 10 seconds of the game, ending it in an 8-8 tie.
