The DHAA Knights’ 13-year-old travel basketball team is red hot, having won nine straight games. Coaches Joe Gergenti and John Deangelo are very proud of the team’s effort during the streak.

“These boys have made tremendous strides from their first game up to now, and even though the next few games will be difficult, we know the boys are up for the challenge,” they said.

This past Sunday, the team came to play the Kings Bay Rookies at the impressive Kings Bay Youth Organization Arena in Sheepshead Bay. Knights’ center Sal Cardinale had 8 points to go along with several rebounds. Forward Israel Farrington was the high scorer of the game with 14 points, Justin Lentini scored 4 points and Matt Scarangello had a basket for 2 points.

Point guard Justin Romero handled the ball well and earned 10 points, while fellow guard Keyshawn Francis drove the lane, penetrating the defense for 8 points. Shooting guard Joe Donohue sank two outside shots and a free throw at the foul line for a total of 5 points.Keyshawn Francis, who had 8 points for the Knights, gets set at the foul line.

Strong defensive play and rebounding on both sides of the court by the rest of the team helped ensure a 49-27 victory for the Knights.
