Don’t even THINK about parking in Brooklyn Heights on the 4th!

Baby it’s going to be crowded in Brooklyn Bridge Park

With Brooklyn Bridge Park a prime viewing location for the Macy’s 4th of July fireworks this year, the NYPD is expecting thousands upon thousands of visitors – and parking in Brooklyn Heights is expected to be holy hell.

Even though the fireworks don’t commence until 9:20 p.m. on July 4, tow trucks will be out in force from Joralemon to Middagh streets starting 11 p.m. on the night of July 3to establish NYPD emergency vehicle and crowd management lanes.

Here is the list so far of where parking is strictly verboten:

• Joralemon Street from Furman Street to Court Street

• Montague Street from Hicks Street to Columbia Heights

• Columbia Heights from Remsen Street to Old Fulton Street

• Water Street from Main Street to Old Fulton Street

• Middagh Street from Cadman Plaza West to “Dead End”

• Cranberry Street from Columbia Heights to Hicks Street

• Vine Street from Columbia Heights to Hicks Street

• Cadman Plaza West from Tillary Street to Furman Street

 All parked cars on these blocks must be moved by midnight on the night of July 3rd, according to the Brooklyn Heights Association (BHA) – but signs posted on trees by the NYPD say they have to be out of there by 11 p.m., so it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Some Heights residents feel burned. “This seriously impact Heights residents who park on the street (not every Heightster pays $400 or more to garage their vehicle!), many of whom will be high-tailing it out of town for the weekend (and thus need a place for their cars on Thursday night but not beyond),” one local wrote in an email.

It’s not only parking that’s impacted. Starting at 4 p.m. on July 4, the 84th Precinct plans a freeze on all vehicles traveling in any direction west of Cadman Plaza in Brooklyn Heights.

Residents of Brooklyn Heights should carry ID with them in order to gain access to their homes with their vehicles after 4 p.m., advises BHA.

Bridges closed, too

Since so much of the action takes place around the Brooklyn Bridge, the NYPD is shutting it down in both directions commencing at 7 p.m.

Think you are the only one who thought of watching the display from the Manhattan Bridge? Forget it. The Brooklyn, Williamsburg and Manhattan Bridge footpaths will be closed to pedestrians and bikes starting at 7 p.m.

Brooklyn Bridge Park is not the only place to see the fireworks, of course. Waterfront areas and rooftops from Red Hook to Williamsburg (and the same areas in Manhattan) will offer great views of the show.

In Brooklyn Heights, they will be also visible from the Promenade, which will be monitored by the NYPD to make sure its weight limit is not exceeded. Expect bag checks at the four entrances to the Promenade.

Parts of Brooklyn Bridge Park will close early

Sorry kids, you won’t be swimming in the Pop-up Pool or playing soccer during the show – or even five hours before the fireworks.

And forget those traditional 4th of July BBQ’s, at least in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Here are some of the rules in effect on Friday, courtesy of Brooklyn Bridge Park:

* Bags will be checked by NYPD at all entrances.

* Squibb Park and the Squibb Bridge will be closed.

* The Main Street section of the park will close at 4 p.m.

* Barbeques on Picnic Peninsula will be closed.

* All playgrounds will close at 4 p.m.

* The Pop-Up Pool will close at 4 p.m.

* Pier 4 Beach will close at 4 p.m.

* Volleyball courts will close at 4 p.m.
