Bay Ridge — Community Board 10 has voted to move Election Day.
The board, which elects officers every December, has decided to move the election to June.
At its Jan. 23 meeting, the board voted to change its bylaws to allow elections of the chairman, vice chairman, secretary, and treasurer to June.
For many years, the board has held its elections in December. The officers take office in January.
But board members said new board members are appointed in March of each year by the borough president and that holding an election the previous December doesn't give new members a chance to help select the board's leadership team.
The changes were recommended by Bylaws Committee, chaired by George Fontas.
The new voting schedule will start after the term of the current chairman, Joanne Seminara, ends. Seminara is serving her third, and last, term as chairman.
Under the board's bylaws, chairman cannot serve more than three consecutive terms.
