Escapes From House of Detention

The McBrooklyn blog has detailed some past escapes from the Brooklyn House of Detention. Here are just a few:

In 1980, horse trainer, embezzler and murderer Buddy Jacobson walked out in a new suit a friend had smuggled in under his own clothes.

In 1975, Joseph James mortally wounded the untrained correction officer to whom he was handcuffed, using a gun smuggled in by an accomplice. A car was waiting for him at a nearby exit.

In 1973, Henry Brown was sent under guard to Kings County Hospital for treatment of an ulcer. His handcuffs were removed for an X-ray. After the X-ray, he escaped.
