ADAMS STREET (AP) — A New York City firefighter has won a $250,000 settlement from the city to drop a lawsuit claiming he was wrongfully arrested for running a social club.
Anthony Primus was arrested in April 2004 on charges of running an at-home social club and stealing a city trash can.
He was acquitted in 2007.
His lawyer told the Daily News that Primus was awarded the money Tuesday, the day his civil trial was to begin in Brooklyn Supreme Court.
Primus had claimed that a dispute he had with a police deputy inspector in 2004 made him the target of police harassment.
