Owner Richie Wells was born and raised in Bay Ridge. He began what has become a family business after learning the trade in a local flooring and hardware establishment and then moving briefly into the wholesale side of the industry. Selling and installing flooring brought Wells back into the retail aspect when he opened his own flooring store in the late 1980s.  

Richie’s Bay Ridge Carpet & Linoleum is an establishment that has built its business through word of mouth and full service. The staff will order materials for you to install, or they will handle the installation for you. They also remain committed to their products if you need maintenance.  

Well known to local building superintendents, Richie’s offers many flooring products. These include: wall-to-wall carpet, carpet tiles, runners, area rugs, linoleum, vinyl tiles, laminates, outdoor carpeting, ceramic tiles, and porcelain tiles.

Wells attributes his success to his many blessings and a great staff that offers what Richie terms “soup to nuts” service, handling all of your flooring needs.

“Everyone here is family, or is treated like family. We all have at least 15 years of experience,” Wells said. “We are fair with what we charge.”

The price points of his materials are competitive. You can even buy a remnant that has been cut and trimmed to a standard size (5’x8’, 4’x6’, or 3’x5’). The available designs range from classic solids to innovative patterns.
