Brooklyn Women’s Bar and Volunteer Lawyers Project host Monday event
REMSEN STREET — The Brooklyn Women’s Bar Association (BWBA) and the Brooklyn Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) are co-sponsoring a free seminar on "Gender Equality in the Workplace", along with the Gender Discrimination Committee of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NY Chapter).
The seminar will be held on Monday, May 21, at 6 p.m. at the Brooklyn Bar Association at 123 Remsen St.
The purpose of the event is to inform members of the public of their rights at work. Topics to be discussed include discrimination/harassment due to sex or sexual orientation, equal pay, family leave and benefit policies, and other issues disproportionately affecting women and LGBT persons in the workplace.
The panel will address these issues within the framework of Title VII, the New York State and New York City Human Rights Law, the Family Medical Leave Act and the Equal Pay Act.
