Heights Resident Confirmed as MTA Chair

Joe Lhota, a Brooklyn Heights resident, was confirmed yesterday by the state Senate as chairman of the MTA. He already had been confirmed as the agency’s executive director. Lhota says he will focus on closing the agency’s nearly $10 billion budget gap. He served as the city’s chief operating officer during the Giuliani administration.
