P.S. 185 students put their imaginations to work when their teachers asked them to take part in a Literacy Fair to promote reading. Youngsters created projects that included story boards and models made from paper, wood, and cardboard. Second grader Gabriela Cafato joined forces with a classmate, Edwin Beskowic (not pictured), to create a miniature New York City during the Blizzard of 2010. The children used cotton for the snow. The display also included the kids’ version of the Statue of Liberty! The ambitious project drew the attention of Councilman Vincent Gentile, District 20 Community Education Council President Laurie Windsor, District 20 Superintendent Karina Cosentino, and Principal Ken Llinas (left to right). They all praised the students’ work.
