Steve Hindy, president of the Brooklyn Brewery, has endorsed the Fair Wages for New Yorkers Act, which establishes minimum salaries of at least $10 for businesses and developers receiving $1 million or more in discretionary subsidies from the city.

Hindy pointed out that small businesses and non-profits are exempted. “When large developers and companies benefiting from subsidies boost wages, everyone wins,” he said. He added that a higher-wage economy generates more consumer spending and more demand for goods and services.
