JV Division

 

RANGERS 5 PANTHERS 4

 

The Panthers took an early lead in this game, thanks to back-to-back goals by Jordan Cochin and Julia Buttaro, but the Rangers responded with a goal by Sean Safran to narrow the lead to 2-1.

Back-to-back goals by Donovan Didonato and Julian Bastiniello extended the Panthers’ lead to 4-1. With the clock winding down in the half, Safran scored his second goal to cut the lead in half.

 

The Rangers’ defense, led by goalie Matt Maher and defenders Matt Ljubich and Nick Fadelici, kept the Panthers out of the net for the entire second half. The offense scored three consecutive goals — one by Billy Poulos and two more by Sean Safran, giving him a total of four goals in the game — to take the lead and give the Rangers a 5-4 victory.

 

STINGRAYS 5 STARS 2

 

Bobby Ioannou scored two goals for the JV Division Stingrays.The Stingrays struck first in this game with a quick goal by Matt McCarthy on an assist by Bobby Ioannou. Nick Cona scored another goal for the Stingrays to open up a 2-0 lead. The Stars responded with a blast into the top of the net by John Castiglione, making the score 2-1. 

 

The Stingrays then extended their lead on consecutive goals by McCarthy and Ioannou. With time running out in the first half, Richie Fodera scored a goal for the Stars, making it 4-2 at the end of the first half.

 

The second half of the game was a defensive battle by both teams, with the only goal scored by Jake Mangano to give the Stingrays a 5-2 victory.

 

Peewee DivisionFrancesco Pedulla made some terrific saves in goal for the peewees.

 

The fierce competition in the Peewee Division was suspended on Jan. 29 for a day of fun. The four teams that compose the division were combined into two teams for an exhibition game. 

 

There was no winning or losing in this game, as scores were not kept and goals were not posted. It was a chance for players to get to know and play with other players who are not on their teams. 

 

The players who played in this game were Isabella Cimino, Alexander Napolitano, Salvatore Martucci, Nicholas Guariniello, Shannon Safran, Salvatore Sparacio, Gino Sarta, Joseph Farina, Vincent Oliviero, John Mortillaro, Joseph Bello and Gianna Repole.
