Karen Cohen promoted at M.C. O’Brien

BROOKLYN — Bill O’Brien, president of Brooklyn-based brokerage M.C. O’Brien Inc. reports the promotion of Karen Cohen to director of sales and leasing.

In her new position Cohen, who joined the firm in 2008, will be responsible for representing tenants and landlords as well as buyers and sellers of retail and mixed-use properties in Brooklyn and Queens.

“Karen has consistently demonstrated a record of successes for her clients,” said O’Brien, noting that among the clients served by Cohen in 2011 were Rosenwach Tank, CAMBA Inc., Flatbush Federal Savings & Loan, Emblem Health, Universal Genetics, The Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn and Queens, Pay/Half, Amazing Savings, Enterprise Community Services, Neighborhood Diabetes, Metro PCS, Boost Mobile, Dunkin’donuts, Checkers restaurants, H&R Block and the United States Military.

Cohen was also recently named a 2011 CoStar Power Broker by the CoStar Group, a commercial real estate independent research firm. This annual award recognizes the commercial real estate achievements in closing the highest transaction volumes in commercial property sales or leases for the entire year of 2011.

“In order to be selected for this honor, Karen was evaluated against other commercial real estate brokers active in the region by CoStar Group, and subsequently ranked among the top brokers in the market,” said O’Brien.

“M.C. O’Brien, Inc. has a unique perspective on the markets in the outer boroughs and while we are not the largest company, a significant amount of business is transacted by our firm. In the last few years, I have been exposed to all sorts of transactions from individual businessmen, national franchises and corporate tenancies. We have a lot of fun with our clients, but always remain focused on the client’s needs,” said Cohen.

Cohen lives in Midwood and went to John Dewey High School and Brooklyn College.
