Kings County Courts and Clergy Unite Against Domestic Violence


Local Religious Leaders, Lawyers and Judges Talk Strategy over Breakfast

 

As part of the Kings County courts’ continuing effort to communicate with the people of Brooklyn in hopes of quashing societal ills prior to legal intervention, the local judiciary met with clergy leaders last week to discuss domestic violence. Organized by Kings County Civil Court judges Robin Sheares and Wavny Toussaint (above left), in conjunction with Kings County Administrative Judge for Civil Matters Sylvia Hinds-Radix (above right), the breakfast roundtable discussion, “Domestic Violence and the House of Faith: What to do about it?" brought dozens of judges, lawyers, clergy members and court employees to the boardroom of the Brooklyn Supreme Court last week. The purpose of the meeting was to strategize how clergy leaders can help stop domestic violence from occuring in their communities.
