An L of a Situation

State Senator Daniel Squadron, Borough President Marty Markowitz and other officials recently sent a letter urging the MTA to lessen the impact of weekend L train shutdowns on Williamsburg and Greenpoint small businesses. The officials held a meeting with more than 30 local merchants, who stressed that the L is essential in bringing customers from Manhattan. Their suggestions included scheduling work on weeknights, running buses over the Williamsburg Bridge on shutdown days, and not shutting down the L and the nearby G at the same time.
