Legendary author/playwright Warren Adler releases ‘War of the Roses’ sequel
Following the worldwide success of Brooklyn-born Warren Adler’s stage version of his iconic divorce story “The War of the Roses,” Stonehouse Productions has released “The War of the Roses – The Children.” This sequel to the ‘chandelier-shattering’ legacy of the legendary Barbara and Oliver Rose answers the question of whatever happened to Josh and Evie – the children of the Roses – who witnessed their parents crushed beneath a chandelier in the aftermath of their bitter divorce?
Unlike the infamous Roses’ relationship, Josh’s marriage to Victoria should have all the qualities of an everlasting union. But when an innocent caper involving missing Milky Ways catapults out of control at their son’s elite private school, the pair finds themselves entering into a warfare of a different kind. Little more than a child herself, Josh’s ever sympathetic and over-stuffed sister Evie lavishes her ‘food-is-love’ obsession on her nephew and niece, Michael and Emily, who are coping with their own sense of loss. Adler, once again, demonstrates his storytelling mastery by revealing the intricate blending of the past with the present, and how time unravels all things seemingly perfect to be darkly and even comically dysfunctional.
