A group of movers and shakers called the “Brooklyn Eagles” (no relation to this paper) is throwing their First Annual Fall Cocktail Party and Benefit on Tuesday, October 1 to help out the Brooklyn Public Library.
The new group, made up of professionals, business owners, actors, artists and officials includes actress Lena Dunham, urban developer Shin-pei Tsay, Peter Goldwasser from the Mayor’s Office of Policy and Strategic Planning, Tucker Reed, President of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, and Rashid Shabazz of the Open Society Institute, among others.
Entertainment includes music by Sesame Flyers Steel Pan Band and Highline Jazz Quartet; food will be “curated” by Underground Eats, with recipes provided by local Brooklyn chefs.
BPL and Brooklyn Eagles officials, along with students from BPL’s Today’s Teens, Tomorrow’s Techies and Brooklyn Connections programs will make remarks.
The event takes place at the Central Library, 10 Grand Army Plaza, from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the door. More at http://www.bklynpubliclibrary.org/brooklynclassic
