New York City mayoral candidate Joe Lhota says his rival Bill de Blasio uses his family in campaign ads because he "has no policies."
The Republican says de Blasio has "a beautiful" family. But he said Wednesday on Fox TV's "Good Day New York" that the campaign is about the future of New York.
Lhota says "it's about everybody else's children" and making sure they're safe and have the best possible education.
De Blasio's teenage son and daughter both appear in his campaign ads.
Lhota says de Blasio uses his family to get across that he's a nice guy. But he says that's not enough to be mayor.
Lhota says he, his wife and daughter are also a tight-knit family — but reserved. He says "It's just who we are."
