BROOKLYN — LIU’s Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is partnering with board-certified dermatologist and LIU Pharmacy alumnus Howard Murad, M.D., F.A.A.D., to offer Murad’s online course, “360 Sun Protection.”
The course will present pharmacists and other health care professionals key information on the importance of sun protection, both topical and internal.

LIU Pharmacy is now offering this one-hour accredited continuing education program that provides insight into Murad’s “Inclusive Health” approach, a three-pronged strategy to improve cellular health, which ultimately yields better sun protection through a stronger barrier function and healthier cells.

“We are very excited about this partnership and to be able to update the knowledge of pharmacists regarding the proper use of sunscreens, enabling them to make recommendations backed by strong science and offering a holistic approach,” said LIU Director of Continuing Professional Pharmacy Education Joseph J. Bova. “We are also looking forward to offering additional online learning courses by Dr. Murad in the near future.”

Murad is recognized as a leading visionary for his scientific innovations in the fields of health, wellness and dermatology. He is the pioneering force behind the Inclusive Health movement, which focuses on a total body approach to youth building.
Murad’s discoveries in what he calls the “Science of Cellular Water,” which identify the common denominator of aging and illness as cellular water loss, are at the heart of what is now recognized as one of the most comprehensive approaches to understanding health and aging.

Dr. Murad’s Inclusive Health philosophy is unique in that it emphasizes that skin is not only the body’s largest organ but that skin health is reflective of the overall health of all systems in the body.
