People in the auditorium of Lutheran Medical Center in Sunset Park were saying “Gung Hay Fat Choy,” or “Happy New Year” in Chinese, as the hospital celebrated the Lunar New Year, observed in many Asian countries, yesterday. Hospital personnel and others were treated to a Lion and Dragon Dance, local Asian-American schoolchildren (seen here) performed a traditional dance, and Chinese food was served to all. With the food, people received oranges, a traditional symbol of good luck.
