Bensonhurst families have a new medical office to turn to for their children’s health care needs, according to officials at Maimonides Medical Center, who said the hospital recently opened a pediatric facility in the community.

The new Bay Parkway Multi-Specialty Pediatric Center, at 6701 Bay Parkway, is a 5,500-square- foot facility located on two floors with 12 pediatric exam rooms. The center is open five days a week. Maimonides officials said their goal is to eventually expand the services to nights and weekends.

Given the cultural diversity of  Bensonhurst and its surrounding communities, the Center accommodates speakers of Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, Urdu, and Bengali, officials said. There are also translators available to serve patients speaking other languages.

Dr. Danielle Laraque, chairman of the department of pediatrics at Maimonides Medical Center, and Dominick Stanzione, chief operating officer of Maimonides Medical Center, cut the ribbon at the official opening of the center.

“Our goal is to accommodate children and their families in a comfortable, supportive environment to relieve anxiety and optimize healing,” Laraque said. “The open, bright and airy offices in this new location have a playful aquatic theme that mimics the aquariums found at the Maimonides Infants and Children’s Hospital.”

Alex K. Chang, executive director of finance and administration for the department of pediatrics, spoke at the ribbon cutting ceremony, thanking participants their help. Stanzione, Laraque, and Dr. Ludovico Guarini, associate chairman of pediatrics and the director of pediatric hematology/oncology, spoke about the importance of bringing quality health care to children and families in the communities that Maimonides serves.

Maimonides is located at 4802 10th Ave. and serves a large section of southern Brooklyn.

The new pediatric center’s services include: gastroenterology, cardiology, hematology, allergy, endocrinology, and neurology. Officials said other services coming soon will include: nephrology, pediatric surgery, genetics, and rheumatology. The center is staffed with physicians, nurses, physician assistants, medical assistants and patient coordinators.
