Marine Park Intermediate School Builders Club Goes Red for Women’s Health
MARINE PARK — On Friday, Feb.10, the halls of Marine Park Intermediate School were a sea of red. Students, staff, and faculty all banded together to “Go Red” for women’s health. Participants sported the color red in many creative and unusual ways, including the purchasing of “Go Red” bands supplied by Dr. Mardie Sheiken, herself a heart surgery survivor. Others donated one dollar to support the American Heart Association to make their mission known. In total the school raised almost $300.00.
“Many of the students donated their own money to help support this worthy cause. This is typical of the type of students we have here at Marine Park Intermediate School,” said Regina Kieran, the faculty advisor for the Builders Club. The Builders Club, a branch of Kiwanis, was established at Marine Park Intermediate School six years ago, and is sponsored by the Parkway East Kiwanis Club.
