Medgar Evers College Holds Inaugural Black History Month Corporate Luncheon

CROWN HEIGHTS — On Wednesday, Feb. 29, Medgar Evers College held its inaugural Black History Month Corporate Luncheon honoring four African-American trailblazers in the corporate arena whose work and dedication contribute to the vibrancy of the nation’s economy.

“The triumphs of these remarkable men and women serve as powerful symbols of progress for our community as well as a sign of great things to come,” said Medgar Evers College President William L. Pollard.

Hosted by the talented Sade Baderinwa, co-anchor of WABC-TV’s top-rated Eyewitness News the event celebrated individuals who embodied the meaning of success. The honorees included D.A. Abrams, chief diversity and inclusion officer, United States Tennis Association; Saundra Thomas, vice president, community affairs, WABC-TV; Henry Beards, New Jersey District human resources manager, UPS; and Paulette Proverbs, longtime banking professional.

The event was attended by corporate movers and shakers like Byron Lewis, chairman and founder of Uniworld, Inc., the nation’s first black-owned advertising agency; and Kelly Smith Beaty, former contestant on NBC’s “The Apprentice” and current vice president of marketing and communications at Dress for Success; as well as Medgar Evers College School of Business top students Brittney Dorsette and Ron Clark.

United Parcel Service and the United States Tennis Association sponsored the luncheon.
