Theater-goers can take a trip from southern Brooklyn to the magical world of an imaginary chocolate factory, courtesy of the Narrows Community Theater, which is presenting the musical “Willy Wonka” in Bay Ridge starting Aug. 16.

“Willy Wonka” will be presented on Aug. 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25 at the Fort Hamilton Post Theater, located on the US Army Garrison at Fort Hamilton. The fort’s main gate is located at Fort Hamilton Parkway and 101st Street. The gate at Seventh Avenue and Poly Place will be open, but only for walk-ins. Cars will not be allowed to enter at the Seventh Avenue gate. Photo identification is necessary to enter the fort.

The Aug. 16, 17, 23, and 24 performances start at 8 p.m. The curtain will rise at 2 p.m. at the Aug. 18 and 25 shows.

With music and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, “Willy Wonka” is based on the book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by famed children’s author Roald Dahl. The book was adapted for the stage by Leslie Bricusse and Timothy Allen McDonald.

“Willy Wonka” tells the story of world-famous candy man and his search to find an heir. The candidates consist of four insufferable brats and one lovable boy named Charlie Bucket who, with his very amiable Grandpa Joe, vies for the prize – a lifetime supply of candy!

The production is directed by Susan Huizinga. Balint Varga is the musical director. Adriane Musacchio is the choreographer.

Tickets are $20.00 for adults, $15.00 for senior citizens and students under the age of 21, and $10.00 for children 12 and under. For more information, call Narrows Community Theater at 718-482-3173 or visit www.NCTheaterNY.com.
