No 'obscene performances' or birth control counseling allowed at 215 Exeter St. – but building a ginormous house is okay

Gone is a roughly 2,000-square-foot rectory and in its place is a 7,500-square-foot mansion that dwarfs neighboring houses. Photos by Rob Abruzzese

Eye On Real Estate: Brooklyn's Ugliest Buildings

Brooklyn Daily Eagle

The Manhattan Beach Community Group and the Manhattan Beach Neighborhood Association opposed its construction in 2012, reported. It's being built anyway.

The 7,500-square-foot house is an “alteration” of a 2,100-square-foot building Aleksandr Falikman and Svetlana Kucher bought from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn for $1.85 million in 2010, city records indicate.

In the sale document, the married couple promised not to “permit or conduct any obscene performances” on the premises, and not to perform abortions or euthanasia proceedings or provide counseling about abortions, birth control or euthanasia.

The building had been the rectory of St. Margaret Mary Parish, a church employee told Eye on Real Estate. A nearby church building continues to be used as a Catholic church.
