A total of six schools in Brooklyn, two high schools, three middle schools and one elementary schools, are among the 17 schools targeted by the city for closure at the end of this year due to poor performance, according to a report by the Huffington Post/DNAInfo partnership.

Those half dozen schools are Freedom Academy High School in Fort Greene; Sheepshead Bay High School; the General D. Chappie James Middle School of Science in Brownsville; George Gershwin Junior High in Brownsville; Rafael Cordero Middle School in East New York; and The Parkway elementary school in Crown Heights.

Each of the 17 city schools slated for closure had either “F” grades, “D” grades or three straight years of “C” grades, according to the report. These schools have been deemed unable to be turned around and are all scheduled to shut its doors at the end of the school year. Another round of school phase-outs will be announced today by the city, with other Brooklyn schools potentially at risk.
