The foot of Atlantic Avenue, where it leads to Pier 6 and Brooklyn Bridge Park, will get more clearly marked crosswalks, new medians, lane barriers, repositioned traffic lights and small other reconfigurations to make it less hazardous for pedestrians.  For instance, right-turning traffic from the BQE exit ramp seen in the foreground of this 2008 photo will be more clearly restrained, while right turns on red onto the entrance ramp at right will no longer be permitted.  Also, Furman Street (beyond the BQE overpass) will become permanently two-way. The changes were endorsed last week by the transportation committee of Community Board 2.
