Brooklyn is now the power center in city government, according to Carlo Scissura, president and CEO of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, who said he is looking forward to working with Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio and other top officials.

“Brooklyn is no longer just the center for jobs, technology, fashion, culture and start-up businesses. It is also home to New York City’s political power and that is wonderful for the residents of Kings County,” Scissura said in a statement.

Nov. 5 was a good day for Brooklyn. The mayor-elect lives with his family in Park Slope and is the former councilman from that neighborhood. The city’s new public advocate, Councilwoman Letitia James, is a Brooklynite.

Brooklyn is also getting a new borough president with state Sen. Eric Adams’ victory over Conservative Elias Weir on Tuesday.

Scissura pledged to work with city officials to promote economic growth in the borough.

“My heartfelt congratulations to the men and women who have been elected, and in some cases re-elected, to office this year. The voters have spoken and entrusted these hardworking people with the responsibility of leading New York City and Brooklyn for the next four years,” Scissura said.

"Special congratulations to Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio and Borough President-elect Eric Adams,” he added.

"I look forward to working with both men as they continue to grow jobs and businesses. The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to that very mission, ensuring that we work every day towards making our borough the very best it can be,” Scissura said.
