Is this the look of the new Brooklyn Nets?

By the time the Nets announced today that they would unveil their new logo next week, a lot of people had the feeling that they knew what was coming.

A black-and-white logo, featuring the word “Nets” inside a shield above a white basketball with the letter “B” on it, was posted on Twitter on Wednesday by someone claiming to be an IT worker at Barclays. The image was further circulated by Deadspin.com and the New York Post.

The “B” was similar to the one donned by the Brooklyn Dodgers prior to their relocation to Los Angeles following the 1957 season. The colors differed from the Nets’ traditional red, white, blue and silver team colors.

Nets and Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark refused to comment on the logo, tweeting, “Our entire brand identity will be introduced by us on Monday.”

Monday’s announcement is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Modell’s Sporting Goods store across Flatbush Avenue from the Barclays Center.
