“Please open a store in our area! WE NEED IT!” demands commenter Yelena on an online petition launched to bring a Trader Joe’s food emporium to Sheepshead Bay. “Yes, yes and yes,” adds Veronica, who also signed the petition posted at ipetitions.com on Sunday.

By early Monday evening 260 petitioners had signed; an hour later it was up to 281.

It’s not the first time locals have demanded a Trader Joe’s, reports the Sheepshead Bites blog. After the Pathmark at 3785 Nostrand Avenue shuttered, residents pushed for the popular chain. Instead, they got the smaller — Aldi, which is slated to open its the first Brooklyn location this October, the blog reports. Aldi is owned by members of the same family that own Trader Joe’s, according to Wikipedia.

But Sheepshead Bay residents know what they want. “The Court St location drives me nuts,” says petition signer Igor. “There is never any parking. It really takes away from a good shopping experience. Mind you Trader’s Joe, Sheepshead Bay dwellers love to splurge on good food. Get it? Now let’s get it!”
