The New York City sanitation department says its special storm debris pickup will end Monday.

In addition to its regularly scheduled trash pickup, the department has been collecting bulk items like flooded furniture in hard-hit storm neighborhoods of Staten Island, Queens and Brooklyn.

Regular collection schedules will resume on Jan. 2. Bulk items will be picked up on regularly scheduled refuse collection days only.

After Monday, bulk and construction debris generated by hired contractors must be disposed of by the contractor.

The agency said sanitation crews have removed more than 379,000 tons of debris since Sandy struck.
